The Lodge is becoming increasingly popular with visitors to the
area using it as a base from which to tour the many facilities
in the area; some visitors are even using it as a base from
which to explore the greater Johannesburg attractions.
The farm has
experienced wonderful rains this summer and is looking
particularly lovely. The annual game increase was not as good
this year as last year.
Nonetheless, we
have welcomed several baby eland, wildebeest and, of course,
impala. We have spotted the first bush babies in quite some
time. The vervet monkeys also seem to be returning to the area.
A pair of black-chested
snake-eagles has made a nest on the property. Exciting sitings
recently have been the long-crested eagle and African
harrier-hawk (Gymnogene).
A flock of
white-fronted bee-eaters is seen quite regularly. The African
Eagles, although we hear their distinctive call, have not been
sighted.
